Research themes
The general purpose of the UMR's research is tropical marine ecology and focuses on:
- The understanding of tropical marine biodiversity
- Spatial and temporal dynamics of ecological processes and environmental forcing
- The land-sea continuum (islands, watersheds, coastline)
- Valuation, sustainable exploitation and preservation of tropical marine biodiversity
The UMR is mobilized around the large tropical Indo-Pacific region:
- in the French overseas territories (Reunion, New Caledonia, Wallis & Futuna, Eparses Islands, French Polynesia, Mayotte),
- in southern partner and neighboring countries (Madagascar and the island states of the western Indian Ocean, Indonesia, Oceanian island states (Vanuatu, Fiji, Papua New Guinea ...)
