SCORE-REEF Project
SPATIAL AND TEMPORAL VARIABILITY OF THE WORLD'S CORAL REEFS: CAUSALITY, IDIOSYNCRASY AND IMPLICATIONS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF ECOLOGICAL INDICATORS
PROJECT SUMMARY
The Score-Reef project proposes to analyze databases on benthic and fish assemblages, derived from international monitoring and implemented in overseas territories. The aim is to
- to evaluate the quality, the relevance and the possibilities of interoperability of the databases, and to propose their improvement;
- to examine the temporal dynamics of reef assemblages (fish, corals and invertebrates) with a taxonomic and functional approach;
- to test the relevance and robustness of indicators used in the framework of the WFD, Ifrecor and MPAs;
- to develop context-dependent indicators of health status and resilience potential that take into account the taxonomic and functional dimensions of biodiversity.
Score-Reef works jointly with managers and decision makers to assess current environmental policies and to propose indicators adapted to local contexts.
