PASTILLES (PI Fauvelot C.) – Post-doc student: F. Riquet

In PASTILLES, we are interested in the evolutionary success of a common and ubiquitous Atlantic coral species, Porites astreoides, commonly used as a study model in the face of global changes. This species displays paradoxical characteristics: while P. astreoides populations appear genetically homogeneous throughout its western Atlantic range, this species, with supposed reduced dispersive abilities, presents strong genetic differentiation according to depth, with differentiated lineages occurring locally in sympatry. Given these contradictory results, PASTILLES challenges the cryptic diversity of P. astreoides using an integrative approach combining evolutionary ecology, population genomics, morphometric analyzes and connectivity modeling.
